Michigan State junior Malik McDowell will forgo his senior season and declare for the NFL draft, according to 247Sports.
McDowell missed the final three games of the season with an ankle injury. He finished the 2016 campaign with 34 tackles, 7 for loss, and 1.5 sacks. It had been rumored throughout the season that McDowell was considering declaring for the draft.
“It’s a decision he’s going to make when it’s time to make that decision,” Michigan State teammate Demetrius Cooper said of McDowell last month. “He doesn’t know if he’s coming back.”
In his career in East Lansing, McDowell had 90 tackles, 24.5 for loss, and 7.5 sacks in 24 starts.
