Another Michigan State player is in legal trouble.
Defensive end Demetrius Cooper has been accused of violating the conditions of his bond agreement by being in possession of alcohol, according to a report from MLive. Cooper was charged with assault and battery in October after he allegedly spit in the face of a police officer.
Cooper, a senior, had 2.5 sacks and 6 tackles for loss in the 2016 season.
Michigan State’s football program has been in the headlines this offseason, but mostly for the wrong reasons. Most notably, three unnamed players and a football staff member are being investigated in connection with an alleged sexual assault. In addition, defensive lineman Auston Robertson was charged with sexual assault in an unrelated incident and kicked off the team in April.
