In a scary series of events, Michigan State head women’s basketball coach Suzy Merchant collapsed during the Spartans game against Illinois on Sunday. Monday, Michigan State got good news regarding its women’s head coach.
According to a release from Michigan State, Merchant was released from the hospital Monday and is resting at her home after an overnight stay at Sparrow Hospital, where she underwent precautionary tests.

The 47-year-old Merchant fainted early in the fourth quarter on the Spartans sideline during Michigan State’s 71-47 win over Illinois on Sunday and was helped to the locker room before being taken to Sparrow Hospital in East Lansing, Mich. There was no update on what caused Merchant to faint during the game.
According to the release, there is no time frame for Merchant’s return to the sidelines.
