Michigan State to play St. John’s in opening round of Battle 4 Atlantis tournament
Michigan State now knows who it will be battling in the Bahamas in November.
The Spartans will take on St. John’s from the Big East in the first round of the Battle 4 Atlantis tournament on Nov. 23. The full bracket has not yet been released.
St. John’s struggled mightily last season, going 8-24 and 1-17 in conference play during coach Chris Mullin’s first season at the helm. The Red Storm should be improved this season as it bring in a top 25 recruiting class featuring a trio of four-star recruits.
Michigan State will be looking for any opportunity to forget last season’s shocking conclusion. The Spartans lost 90-81 to Middle Tennessee State as a No. 2 seed in the first round of the 2016 NCAA Tournament. Gone are stars Denzel Valentine and Deyonta Davis, but the Spartans welcome an outstanding recruiting class featuring 5-star prospects Miles Bridges and Joshua Langford.
The other first round matchups in the Battle 4 Atlantis are as follows:
Wichita State vs. LSU
Baylor vs. Virginia Commonwealth
Old Dominion vs. Louisville
