Brian Bowen, a 5-star small forward from Saginaw, Mich., released his list with his top six schools, and Michigan State beat out Michigan to be in the final six.
Bowen, the 13th-ranked player in ESPN’s top 100 in 2017 and the top prospect in the state of Michigan, listed Arizona, Texas, Creighton, N.C. State and UCLA alongside Michigan State.

Bowen, a cousin of former Michigan State player Jason Richardson, told MLive Media that both Michigan and Michigan State were in touch with him.
“They both communicate a lot with me,” Bowen said in an MLive Media article. “Being from Michigan, I really appreciate my city and my state and everything, so they really put that in my head. They’re playing that in my recruitment and it works, because I love being home, but I also have to explore other options.”
The Spartans already have a commitment from 4-star power forward Jaren Jackson, who ranks 26th in ESPN’s top 100 for 2017.
