Michigan State running back LJ Scott is holding off on the NFL. Scott is returning to Michigan State for his senior season.
After the Spartans finished off a dominating 42-17 win against Washington State in the Holiday Bowl, Scott was asked on FS1 if he would be coming back or going to the NFL.
He quickly announced he would be returning to East Lansing, Mich.
“I’ll be back in East Lansing and playing another season,” Scott said.
Scott said he wants to be a part of a great team and that he wants to help in 2018.
The running back finished his junior season with 898 rushing yards and 8 touchdowns. In the Holiday Bowl, Scott had 18 carries for 110 yards and 2 touchdowns.
Scott had previously said he would make his decision after the Spartans bowl game. He came through — and with good news.
In 2016, he hinted at leaving early, tweeting that seeing former Spartans at the NFL Combine gave him chills before correcting it in a later tweet. In the end, Scott decided to stay for his senior season.
Scott is one of 18 Spartans in school history to rush for 2,000 yards in his career.
