Michigan State stayed at No. 4 in the weekly Land of 10 Power Poll, released Sunday after the Big Ten Championship Game decided the conference’s winner.
The Spartans (9-3, 7-2 Big Ten), which ranked 16th in the College Football Playoff rankings, wrapped up their regular season a week ago and didn’t play last weekend. They had to watch as Ohio State beat Wisconsin in the title game before learning their bowl fate on Sunday.
Michigan State will head to the Holiday Bowl in San Diego to face No. 18 Washington State on Dec. 28.
The Spartans remained behind Ohio State, Wisconsin and Penn State and ahead of Northwestern and Michigan. Ohio State moved ahead of Wisconsin after its 27-21 win on Saturday.
I ranked Michigan State fourth, as I have the last several weeks. With the entire Big Ten season to consider, the Spartans built themselves a better resume than all the teams behind them. After going 3-9 a year ago and finishing sixth in the Big Ten East, that has to feel good.
