EAST LANSING, Mich. – Michigan State’s “Celebrate 2016” weekend kicks off Thursday with the induction of eight new members into the Athletics Hall of Fame. All eight inductees will also be honored during the football team’s game against Wisconsin on Saturday afternoon at Spartan Stadium.
This year’s inductees are Eric Allen (football/track ’71), Don Behm (wrestling ’67), Trevor Harris (soccer ’69), Steve Juday (football/baseball ’66), Anne Pewe Khademian (cross country/track & field ’84), Ken Popejoy (cross country/track & field ’73), Patty Raduenz (softball ’96) and Mike Sadler (football ’14). Allen and Sadler will be inducted posthumously. Allen passed away on Oct. 27, 2015, while Sadler passed away on July 23 in the same auto accident that took the life of Nebraska punter Sam Foltz.
“We are excited to announce another outstanding Hall of Fame class,” said Michigan State athletics director Mark Hollis in a press release when the class was announced in August. “It’s a larger class with eight inductees, and eight unique stories. And, yet, they all share a love for MSU and a desire to be great that creates a lasting bond. Hall of Fame Weekend is one of my favorite events as athletics director. Not only do we celebrate the greatness of past Spartans, we do so in conjunction with the varsity letter jacket presentation as first-time letter winners celebrate the start of their journey towards equally lofty goals.”
