Michigan State earned win No. 10 on Thursday, ending the 2017 season with a 42-17 rout of Washington State in the Holiday Bowl.
But on an individual level, it was a big night for Spartans coach Mark Dantonio. The coach picked up win No. 100 as the leader of Michigan State. The win also finished off an impressive turnaround. After going 3-9 in 2016, Michigan State went 10-3 in 2017.
Here’s what Dantonio said after beating Washington State in the Holiday Bowl.
To the fans:
“You were there in the rain, you were there in the snow, you were there today.”
When asked about the young players:
“The seniors showed us the way. They’ve been there, been in the Playoff, won Big Ten championships. …[Young guys have] 800 snaps, won big games, played in big moments. Ten wins at the beginning of the season would have been a dream. We made it a reality.”
Mark Dantonio got a cake for his 100th win, then gets on the microphone.
“We’re not done. We’re just getting started.” pic.twitter.com/2Z3LE7x58W
