A lot of college football teams have had their seasons not go to plan.
If you look at the preseason top 25, you’ll see plenty of names that are now nowhere close to the rankings. Stanford, Notre Dame, Georgia, Oregon and Ole Miss are all teams who have had letdowns in 2016.
But no team has been a bigger disappointment this season than Michigan State, Yahoo Sports’ Pat Forde said. In an interview on the Dan Patrick Show, Forde said it was very surprising to see the Spartans — who were No. 12 in the preseason AP poll — struggle as much as they have this year.
“Michigan State, I thought they were on the path where they were going to win nine, 10, 11 games every year, and they just fell apart completely, Forde said.
“The only team they’ve beaten since Sept. 17 is Rutgers, and everybody beats Rutgers. It’s just been an absolute train wreck up there with a team that I thought was really built to last. So that has shocked me the most.”
Michigan State is 3-7 on the year and finally snapped its seven-game losing streak last week against Rutgers, who Forde and Patrick took a crack at toward the end of their interview.
