Coach Mark Dantonio said last week that Peat was not in camp and that he had to get his academics in order before returning to the team. He wasn’t suspended, Dantonio said.
Peat was a 3-star recruit out of Corona Del Sol High School in Tempe, Ariz., and was the No. 3 player in Arizona for the class of 2015. He redshirted last season and was expected to compete for time as a reserve lineman this fall.
Peat will likely transfer to a junior college to get his grades up before attempting a return to the FBS or FCS level.
Scout.com’s Jason Jewell tweeted that Peat popped up on Eastern Arizona’s football roster, but on its official page, the roster is completely blank.
