The Michigan State football family is expressing sadness after the death of former LB Mylan Hicks, who was shot and later died in an “act of violence” in Calgary.
Hicks, who was from Detroit, was on the Calgary Stampeders practice squad.

“Obviously this is an extremely difficult and upsetting time for the players and staff,” Stampeders president and general manager John Hufnagel said. “It’s a terrible tragedy. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Mylan’s family.”
The news must have come to a shock to the Michigan State family. His former teammates and coaches expressed their loss on Twitter.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with The Mylan Hicks family, as well as his extended Spartan family, as we learn of this tragic loss,” Dantoino said on Twitter.
