Nobody says no to a 5-star recruit.
Well, maybe if the school has the choice of many 5-star recruits, then it can be picky.
But, if you’re Michigan State or Michigan’s basketball program, a 5-star prospect choosing the school is welcomed. On Thursday, both the Spartans and Wolverines moved that much closer.

Tyrese Maxey, a 2019 point guard, is a 6-foot-3 ball handler from Garland, Texas, who is scheduled to make his decision on May 9. According to 247Sports, Maxey is the No. 1 prospect in Texas, No. 2 PG in his class and No. 13 player overall.
The Crystal Ball predictions by 247Sports don’t speak too well to the Spartans’ or Wolverines’ chances, however. There have been 24 predictions made and Kentucky has a 92 percent chance of landing Maxey’s commitment.
The site’s predictions have, of course, been wrong in the past, though. After all, SMU has an 8 percent chance of getting Maxey and he doesn’t even have SMU in his final 5.
As of Thursday, neither Michigan State or Michigan have a Class of 2019 verbal commitment from a player.
