Michigan State is heading back to Maui in 2019. The Spartans were part of the eight-team field announced for the tournament, which will take place in the opening month of the 2019-2020 season.
Michigan State will be joined by Kansas, Virginia Tech, Georgia, UCLA, BYU, Dayton and host school Chaminade in the tournament.

“The Maui Jim Maui Invitational has earned a reputation for showcasing powerhouse teams year over year, and we are thrilled to continue that tradition in 2019,” Tournament Chairman Dave Odom said in a press release. “The Lahaina Civic Center will host some of college basketball’s best programs, coaches and players when these eight teams converge in Maui.”
No Big Ten team has won the Maui Invitational title since Illinois in the 2012-13 season. Michigan State has never won the tournament.
The Spartans were the Big Ten regular season champions in 2017-18 but were bounced in the second round of the NCAA Tournament by 11th-seeded Syracuse.
