Bo Schembechler was a Michigan legend. In 21 seasons as Michigan’s coach, the Wolverines won 194 games and won or shared 13 Big Ten titles.
His mantra was “Those Who Stay Will Be Champions,” a way to rally and motivate his team. Well, it seems Michigan State has tweaked the famous slogan for a recruiting graphic that could be seen as a clear shot at the Wolverines.

The tweet is from Michigan State’s director of college advancement and performance, Curtis Blackwell. On the right side of the image, the words “Those Who Have Stayed Are Already Champions” dominate in can’t miss form.
Now it’s time for you to decide. Is this a trolling job by the Spartans? Is this simply a turn of phrase to point out how, since Mark Dantonio took over in 2007, every Michigan State Spartan that has stayed four years has won a Big Ten championship?
The Spartans have also won seven of the past eight games against Michigan. This year’s game is set for Oct. 29 at Michigan State as Michigan seeks revenge.
