As the chairman of this year’s NCAA Tournament selection committee, Michigan State athletic director Mark Hollis was on CBS on Saturday afternoon to reveal the current top 16 teams in the field.
In his role, Hollis had planned to take a lengthy roadtrip around the country to watch games up close. But his duties at Michigan State are taking priority.
Hollis cancelled his basketball trip to focus on the multiple off-field issues surrounding the Spartans. CBS Sports’ Matt Norlander first reported the trip’s cancellation Monday afternoon.

Last week, the Spartans announced that three football players and one football staff member were suspended as the school investigated an alleged sexual assault. The results of the investigation have not yet been released, but the probe could finish this week.
In addition to the turmoil surrounding the football program, Michigan State’s women’s gymnastics coach Kathie Klages was suspended Monday during an investigation into sexual assault allegations against a former team doctor.
