EAST LANSING, Mich. — Within hours of the charging of Michigan State football players Josh King, Donnie Corley and Demetric Vance with criminal sexual conduct, athletics director Mark Hollis and football coach Mark Dantonio held a news conference at Spartan Stadium.
“I expect my home to be safe, safe to all that live here and safe to all that visit,” Hollis said in prepared statement, getting choked up.
Dantonio followed with a message of anger. “I’m angry,” he said. “I don’t want to say betrayed. I’m angry. I feel like the education was there. I feel like I’ve talked about the sense of responsibility that our players have — not to be a good football player, but to be a good person, to do their very best.”
Dantonio addressed the dismissal of King, Corley and Vance following charges issued Tuesday. He also briefly addressed former Spartans defensive end Auston Robertson, who was dismissed in April following criminal sexual conduct charges.
You can watch the conference below. Hollis’ address starts at 2:40, and Dantonio’s at 8:45.
