The Spartans have a chance to swipe a recruit from one of their rivals.
Kalon Gervin, a one-time Notre Dame pledge, put Michigan State in his updated top five list on Sunday afternoon. The Spartans were joined by Oklahoma, Oregon, Virginia Tech and Louisville on the 4-star cornerback’s list.

Gervin is a Detroit native who plays at Cass Tech. He de-committed from Notre Dame in May.
Listed in the top 200 of the 2018 class, Gervin (5-foot-11, 180 pounds) is the No. 2 recruit from the state of Michigan in 247Sports’ composite rankings.
Gervin holds offers from nearly every Big Ten program, with a major exception. Ohio State has not offered Gervin, though he is supposed to be at the Buckeyes’ camp next weekend.
Michigan State, meanwhile, is hoping he ultimately stays close to home. The Spartans currently have six verbal commits in their 2018 class, which is ranked 38th in the country.
