Jim Harbaugh wasn’t going to rip Mark Dantonio or his team ahead of Michigan’s game this Saturday against Michigan State. In fact, he went the opposite direction.
Harbaugh said Dantonio’s turnaround of the Spartans is “one of the best coaching jobs ever.”

Dantonio is in his 10th season at Michigan State, and what’s happened this year — a 2-5 start — is unusual.
He’s won at least 11 games in five of those seasons, and has made a bowl game in each. He’s also won three Big Ten titles; the Spartans hadn’t won a conference championship since 1990.
Prior to Dantonio’s arrival, Michigan State had won double-digit games just once since 1965. Even Nick Saban only had one season of more than seven wins in five years in East Lansing.
The Spartans went 38-45 in the seven years between Dantonio and Saban.
