Michigan State signee Foster Loyer was honored as his state’s top high school player this week. Loyer, a senior point guard at Clarkston High School, was named Michigan’s Mr. Basketball.

Loyer topped Michigan signees Brandon Johns and David DeJulius for the award, according to the Detroit Free Press.
“It’s just an honor to accept this,” Loyer told the Free Press. “Coach (Dan) Fife was awesome about it; I can’t thank him enough. He made me the player to put me in this spot. Coach Fife and our program at Clarkston is a big part of where I am today.”
Loyer is rated as a 4-star recruit in the 247Sports composite rankings and the No. 3 prospect in the 2018 class from Michigan.
Loyer, who signed with Tom Izzo’s program in November, had his high school season cut short due to injury, however. Loyer suffered a torn meniscus in his left knee during a playoff game late last month.
