Keith Appling, a former star basketball player at Michigan State, was arraigned Tuesday in a gun case in Wayne County, Mich. It’s one of two gun cases against the Detroit native.
In June, Appling was pulled over and later charged with carrying a concealed weapon. If convicted, he faces up to five years in prison.
Appling is facing similar charges from a stop in Dearborn, Mich., where police say he was in possession of a loaded firearm and marijuana outside of a strip club.
Appling’s lawyers claim that the evidence seized from the stop should not be admissible in court.
In any event, Appling is due back in court Friday in the Dearborn case, and the following week in the Detroit case.
