Michigan State is in the running for a Florida cornerback who could improve the Spartans’ depth at secondary.
Stanley Garner III, a 247Sports 3-star corner from Fort Lauderdale Dillard High tweeted out his top 11 schools Saturday night, and Michigan State made the cut.
Joining the Spartans are Florida State, Clemson, Auburn, Kentucky, Pittsburgh, Ole Miss, Tennessee, South Carolina, Miami (Fla) and Louisville. He also listed in his tweet that he was still open to other schools, as well.

Garner is listed as the 57th-best cornerback prospect in the nation and the 104th-best prospect in Florida by 247Sports.
Among the Spartans’ five commits thus far in their Class of 2018 is a cornerback — 3-star prospect Christian Jackson from Marietta (Ga.) Lassiter. However, Michigan State has a healthy track record in developing cornerbacks, as seen in recent years with Darqueze Dennard (2014) and Trae Waynes (2015) getting selected in the first round of the NFL draft.
The Spartans aren’t the only Big Ten team to offer Garner, as Michigan, Minnesota and Indiana have also extended scholarship offers to Garner.
