Those hoping they wouldn’t have to choose between watching Michigan State basketball and Detroit Lions football can breathe a sigh of relief.
ESPN has moved the tipoff time for Michigan State’s game vs. Oakland on Dec. 16 from 4 p.m. ET to 2:30 p.m, per MLive.com. The Lions had been scheduled to play at 4:30 p.m.
The game is part of the District Detroit College Basketball Showcase. Michigan’s game against Detroit Mercy, previously scheduled for 1:30, will now be played at noon.
Michigan State athletic director Mark Hollis had previously voiced his displeasure with the scheduling conflict, per the Detroit Free Press.
“It’s disappointing. While there’s so many things that we’ve done with our TV partners, including ESPN, this is one that is just disappointing for such a monumental weekend for college basketball, that building and the city of Detroit.”
