Cassius Peat is coming back to East Lansing.
Peat, a defensive end, first committed to the Spartans as part of their 2015 recruiting class. After redshirting the 2015 campaign, he spent the 2016 season at Prima Community College in Arizona.
Peat will be back with the Spartans in 2017.
He confirmed to 247Sports that he was re-enrolling at Michigan State and that he would be back on campus this summer. Peat had originally given a verbal commitment to UCLA in December but changed his mind.
“I always felt like I was a part of it even though I went home for a family reason because my coaches kept in contact with me and so did my teammates,” Peat told 247. “So I’ve always felt like I was in the program.”
Peat also posted an Instagram about his return to green and white, but it has since been deleted. Here’s a screenshot:
Peat, rated as a 3-star recruit, will be eligible as a sophomore in 2017.
