Almost two months after National Signing Day, Michigan State football has officially added another recruit. Dashaun Mallory announced Monday night that he’d committed to the Spartans, and the team announced Tuesday that his National Letter of Intent is in.

Mallory tweeted Monday that Michigan State and Mark Dantonio had accepted his letter of intent after his “academic progress.” The Bolingbrook, Ill. prospect is now the biggest defensive recruit MSU’s bringing in at 6-foot-3, 310 pounds. The 247Sports composite recruiting database ranks Mallory as the No. 61 defensive tackle and the No. 15 Illinois recruit in the 2018 class.
While Mallory’s late commitment is unusual, there’s nothing prohibiting prospects from waiting until after National Signing Day to decide their college of choice.
