Michigan State’s chances with Brian Bowen keep looking better.
First, the La Porte (Ind.) La Lumiere wing told Land of 10 he would visit campus one last time on Sunday before making a decision. He wants to see “a great atmosphere” as the Spartans take on Michigan at the Breslin Center.
Now, per a post Thursday on Instagram from Bowen, it’ll be even bigger than that. Instead of making it his umpteenth unofficial trip, he’ll take his one and only official visit to Michigan State.
A Michigan native, Bowen has taken official visits to Arizona, Creighton, N.C. State and Texas, but not Michigan State. The trip had been so easy to make, he never felt like he needed the program to cover the costs.
Now, Michigan State has the opportunity to lay out the red carpet for Bowen, 247Sports’ No. 16 player in the nation and a 5-star prospect, on his last of five official visits to try to seal a commitment. Bowen will also have 5-star Spartans commit Jaren Jackson Jr. with him for the game Sunday.
Bowen has been a top priority for Michigan State for quite some time. Alongside Jackson, he’ll play in the prestigious McDonald’s All-American Game on March 29.
Expect to have his decision made long before that. Bowen doesn’t plan to wait long after his trip to East Lansing to announce.
