Jones chose the Fighting Irish over the Spartans and a handful of other programs, including, Iowa, Illinois, Northwestern, Indiana, Ole Miss and more, as evidenced by the hats he had at his announcement:

According to the 247Sports Composite, Jones is the No. 311 prospect in the nation for the 2018 recruiting class, as well as the 49th-best wide receiver prospect and the No. 3 recruit from the state of Illinois.
“I thought all the way around that these people are here for me and are going to prepare me for the rest of my life,” Jones told 247Sports’ Gus Ramos. “Not just for football. The Notre Dame coaching staff, I really have a deep connection with them. I think we are on the up and coming. The team now is building something special. People are really sleeping on Notre Dame and it’s time for them to wake up.”
