Joseph Scates is no longer committed to Michigan State.
The 4-star Dayton, Ohio, receiver announced via Twitter on Tuesday that he’s opening back up his recruitment. The 2018 recruit thanked the Spartans coaching staff for the opportunity.
“Thanks to all the MSU fans for the love shown ……. but I’ve decided to open my recruitment back up,” Scates wrote on Twitter.

Scates committed to the Spartans on Jan. 18, but received a pair of offers in the days since — from Minnesota and Alabama. The Crimson Tide offer came Sunday, while Scates was visiting for Junior Day.
Scates is listed at 6-foot-3 and 175 pounds and is ranked by 247Sports as the No. 5 recruit in the state of Ohio in 2018, as well as the No. 23 receiver and No. 129 overall recruit in the nation for his class.
