One of the top wide receiver recruits in the country has committed to Michigan State.
Four-star WR Joseph Scates announced on Tuesday that he’s going to be a Spartan.
“I would like to thank all the coaches & schools that have been recruiting me and I’d like to thank the MSU coaching staff for all the time & love they’ve invested in me,” Scates wrote. “After a long talk with my family and coaches I have decided to further my academic & athletic career and commit to Michigan State University.”

Scates, from Dayton, Ohio, is a 6-foot-3, 175-pound recruit in the 2018 class. He’s rated No. 155 overall nationally by 247 Sports’ composite rankings. He’s also No. 6 for Ohio and the country’s No. 25 receiver.
Back in October, Scates listed eight teams. Along with Michigan State, the Big Ten’s Ohio State and Indiana also made the previously announced cut.
The Spartans now have two 4-star commits for 2018. Scates joins Xavier Henderson, who announced his commitment on Sept. 9. Henderson is from Pickerington, Ohio. He’s No. 212 nationally for 247 Sports’ composite. Henderson is also Ohio’s No. 8 recruit and the No. 14 athlete for his class.
