While the Chicago Cubs were chasing 108 years of World Series demons late Wednesday, the Maryland women’s basketball team was busy dropping — wait for it — 146 points in its exhibition opener:
FINAL: #Terps 146, Bluefield State 17.
Blair Watson leads all scorers with 29, including 5 threes.
Back in action on Sunday at 2:00 pm!

And the 146 points weren’t even the most impressive part of the performance for the No. 6 Terrapins, the consensus preseason pick to win the Big Ten.
No, that part would be the zero.
As in the points the Terps allowed in the second half.

“I thought tonight was a good tune-up for us,” Maryland coach Brenda Frese told UMTerps.com.
If you’re curious, yes, the Terps are legit. If you’re extra curious, Bluefield State is a Division II program based in Bluefield, W. Va.
If there’s a silver lining from such a one-sided affair, it’s that, given the attention paid to Game 7 of the World Series, everyone can quietly move along and pretend it never happened.
