Maryland landed the first recruit of its 2018 class Thursday afternoon.
Eriq Gilyard, a three-star linebacker from Jacksonville, announced his commitment to the Terps on his Twitter page.

Gilyard (5-foot-11, 225 pounds) is ranked as the 26th-best outside linebacker in the 2018 class and is considered the No. 54 recruit from Florida, according to 247 Sports. Gilyard has a total of 18 offers, including from Michigan, Florida, Alabama and Nebraska.
Maryland’s 2017 recruiting class sits at 21 commits and is ranked 15th in the nation (third in the Big Ten). The Terps have one outside linebacker in their 2017 class in three-star Ayinde Eley.
