Maryland coach DJ Durkin earlier this week wrote a letter to legendary Los Angeles Dodgers broadcaster Vin Scully, whose first career broadcast was a Maryland-Boston University football game on Nov. 12, 1949 at Fenway Park.
It was an honor to be a part of @VinScullyTweet's first professional broadcast!

“Congratulations on your legendary career and the celebration of your final broadcast,” Durkin wrote in the letter he signed on behalf of the entire Maryland football team. “We are honored to have been a part of your first!”
According to the Los Angeles Times, Scully, 21 at the time of the broadcast, was a late fill-in for the game.
Scully will retire after 67 years after the Dodgers’ regular season comes to a close this weekend in San Francisco.
