Smith was previously committed to Ole Miss, but reopened his recruitment after head coach Andy Kennedy was fired. The 247Sports composite database ranks him as a 3-star recruit. It also ranks him as the No. 13 combo guard and the No. 178 overall recruit in the class.
Smith is from Tampa, Fla., and visited Maryland over the weekend. The other members of Maryland’s recruiting class are 5-star forward Jalen Smith, 4-star wing Aaron Wiggins and 4-star guard Eric Ayala.
