Former Maryland star Jake Layman made his NBA debut on Tuesday night for the Portland Trailblazers against the Golden State Warriors. And in a 127-104 loss, he might have been the lone bright spot. In just eight minutes on the court, Layman scored 17 points on 6-of-8 shooting. He also recorded a steal, assist and a rebound.

The outburst led to immediate praise from one of the games brightest stars.
“I thought we put together a really good game,” Kevin Durant said, according to 247 sports. “Other than Layman getting hot in the fourth quarter. Maybe he should be playing more.”
Layman didn’t enter the first three games of the season, but maybe now he’s earned more playing time.
