D.J. Moore has officially taken the next step in his football career, as the former Maryland wide receiver was taken by the Carolina Panthers with the No. 24 overall pick in the first round of the 2018 NFL Draft on Thursday night.
Although Moore wasn’t at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas on Thursday, he was watching the draft surrounded by a group made up of his family and friends. When Moore’s name was announced, the group erupted in a rousing cheer and Moore had an emotional reaction as he hugged his loved ones.

Moore will join a Carolina offense that features quarterback Cam Newton and running back Christian McCaffrey.
In his three years at Maryland, Moore made 146 catches for 2,027 yards and 17 touchdowns. He is coming off his best year, as he made 80 receptions for 1,033 yards and 8 touchdowns in 2017.
