Jake Adams can absolutely rake.
The Iowa Hawkeyes’ baseball team owned a 33-19 overall record heading into tonight’s doubleheader against Illinois (23-27) and in Game 1, Iowa fell short despite scoring plenty of runs, 12-8.
In Game 2, however, history was made.

Adams’ 23rd home run of the season isn’t just a ridiculous mark in Hawkeyes history. When looking at who’s No. 2 in this year’s Big Ten list for home runs, it’s Indiana’s Craig Dedelow, with 15.
If one were to compare Adams’ 23 homers to the rest of the entire country, only two players have more – both Ben Fisher of Eastern Kentucky and Nike Hulsizer of Morehead State have 24.
The junior first baseman’s record-breaking home run can be seen below:
Congrats to Jake Adams who sets a new single season record for home runs by a Hawkeye with 23! https://t.co/UbcmKHQmVl
