Iowa tight end George Kittle went to the locker room late in the first quarter of the Iowa-Purdue game on Saturday. Kittle came out of the game after hauling in a pass that put the Hawkeyes near the Purdue goal line.
Kittle had two receptions on the first two Iowa drives before leaving the game. He is one of the only experienced playmakers Iowa has in the passing game with wide receiver Matt VandeBerg out with a broken foot. Kittle entered the day second on the team with 15 receptions for 249 yards and 2 touchdowns. If Kittle is out for long it will mean a bigger role in the offense for reserve tight end Noah Fant, who has 2 receptions for 6 yards this season.
Iowa sideline reporter Rob Brooks announced at halftime that Kittle is being held out for precautionary reasons involving a knee injury.
