Iowa beat Iowa State 44-41 in overtime on Saturday to capture the Cy-Hawk Trophy. We want to know what you think about it.
The Hawkeyes swooped back in to tie the game at 38 with 1 minute remaining in the fourth quarter on a 46-yard catch-and-run by Akrum Wadley. Then, Iowa quarterback Nate Stanley connected with freshman Ihmir Smith-Marsette on a 5-yard touchdown pass to win the game in overtime. The Hawkeyes move to 2-0 with the win and will play North Texas next week.
“It wasn’t easy,” Iowa coach Kirk Ferentz said after the game. “Those are the kind of games I hate, but my personal feelings don’t matter, back and forth and all that. Both teams competed so hard — so emblematic from this series.”
