IOWA CITY, Iowa — Iowa’s top two running backs suffered injuries against North Texas and the Hawkeyes are down to third-team running backs Toren Young and Kelly Ivory-Martin by mid-third quarter.
First-teamer Akrum Wadley appeared to have an ankle injury and has been withheld since the early second quarter. He went into the locker room early before halftime. Graduate transfer James Butler, who split carries with Wadley, injured his right arm, elbow or shoulder on a 2-yard gain in the middle of the third quarter.
Butler was taken into the locker room. Wadley is on the sidelines in uniform but has not returned to action.
Wadley had 104 total yards in the first half, while Butler rushed for 74 yards.
