Kirk Ferentz’s Iowa team has been raking in the praise after its 55-24 win over Ohio State, but Peter King of the MMQB has the kindest words for the Hawkeyes coach himself.
In King’s weekly MMQB column, he made a quick note about Ferentz that could go a long way with recruits and their parents.
“Iowa’s Kirk Ferentz is one of the best football coaches at any level, and I don’t just say that because of the 55-24 wipeout of Ohio State. Parents who have high school prospects should want to send their kids to play for Ferentz, and not just for the winning. He wins, he loses, he develops people.”
Peter King on Kirk Ferentz
This is the latest praise for Ferentz’ reputation as a talent developer. In his 18 seasons coaching the Hawkeyes, Ferentz has had multiple Iowa players selected in the NFL Draft in all but two years and seven players taken in the first round. That’s all despite recruiting mostly two and three-star athletes out of the state of Iowa.
