Iowa tackle Ike Boettger likely will be out for the season with an Achilles injury suffered in the Hawkeyes’ win over Iowa State on Saturday, coach Kirk Ferentz said after the game.
Boettger exited the game in the third quarter and did not return after going down on a run by James Butler. Ferentz adapted by moving Sean Welsh from guard to right tackle and bringing Ross Reynolds in to play right guard.
Boettger, a 6-foot-6, 300-pound senior, is in his third year as a starter for the Hawkeyes. He started nine games at right tackle, two at left guard and one at left tackle in 2016.
