Wilson comes to Iowa from the University of Maryland, where he worked for four years as senior associate athletic director for compliance, along with holding chief administrative officer duties. Before his days in College Park, Md., he was with the NCAA for five years, working as an assistant director and associate director of enforcement.
Wilson played football for North Carolina from 2000-03.
“We are extremely excited to add Marcus Wilson to our athletics senior staff,” Iowa athletic director Gary Barta said. “Marcus possesses an impressive background in administration at the highest levels of intercollegiate athletics.
“He’s gained valuable experience within the Big Ten Conference, and has the added perspective of working in the NCAA national office and competed as a student-athlete. His leadership and organizational skills make Marcus a great addition to the Hawkeyes family.”
Wilson’s duties will include general internal operations and sports supervision. He’ll officially join the Hawkeyes on July 5.
