IOWA CITY, Iowa — Saturday wasn’t just senior day for Iowa football. It was one last time for the fan base to take part in the Kinnick Wave to the University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital.
At the end of the first quarter against Purdue, those in attendance, along with members of both teams, waved to the children watching the game on the top floor of the hospital.
The wave was the idea of Krista Young. She posted about Iowa fans doing the wave on Facebook this spring. They did it during the season opener against Wyoming on Sept. 2, and it quickly went viral across the country.
