AMES, Iowa — Iowa center James Daniels is set to make his return to the starting lineup against Iowa State. Daniels went through warmups with the first-team offense. He missed the season opener because of a knee injury.
His return stabilizes the Iowa offensive line. The Hawkeyes struggled early as Wyoming disguises its stunts and blitzes. The offensive line needed a few series to get on track before finding its footing. Daniels should help ensure the Hawkeyes are in position to handle any new wrinkle the Cyclones throw at them.
Expect Iowa to try to use its experienced offensive line and running backs Akrum Wadley and James Butler to control the game and move the football down the field.
With Daniels back, Keegan Render slides over to left guard. Ross Reynolds is out of the starting lineup.
The starting offensive line is expected to be left tackle Alaric Jackson, Render at left guard, Daniels playing center, Sean Welsh at left guard and Ike Boettger playing right tackle.
