Iowa’s newest and most heartwarming tradition got its first go under the lights on Saturday.
The Iowa First Quarter Wave, where fans at Kinnick Stadium wave to patients at the University of Iowa Children’s Hospital, happened during a night game for the first time as the Hawkeyes played host to Penn State. Lots of fans lit up the stadium using their cellphones.

The First Quarter Wave was started this season to connect fans at Kinnick Stadium with kids at the children’s hospital across the street.
