A star performance
Former Iowa quarterback C.J. Beathard put together his best start as the San Francisco starter on Sunday leading the 49ers to a 31-21 victory over the New York Giants. Beathard was 19 of 25 for 288 yards and 2 touchdowns, including an 83-yard scoring strike to Marquise Goodwin. Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com breaks down Beathard’s performance here.

Mike Daniels stars for Packers
Green Bay beat Chicago 23-16 on Sunday and one of the biggest reasons was another former Hawkeyes player. Pro Football Focus graded out defensive lineman Mike Daniels as best Packers player in the game. The website graded out Daniels, who had 5 tackles and 1 sack, above 80 percent in both the run and pass.

The Iowa men’s basketball team picked up an easy 92-58 win over Alabama State on Sunday. The bigs dominated as forwards Cordell Pemsl, Tyler Cook and Luka Garza combined for 38 points.
