IOWA CITY, Iowa — Iowa picked up a a wild win over in-state rival Iowa State on Saturday, but it wasn’t enough to vault the Hawkeyes into the latest Associated Press Top 25 poll, which was released on Sunday. Iowa received two votes.
The Hawkeyes overcame a 10-point fourth-quarter deficit to beat the Cyclones for their third straight Cy-Hawk victory. Iowa received three votes in the AP poll following a 24-3 win over Wyoming in the season opener.

What it means: Iowa will likely need to beat No. 4 Penn State on Sept. 23rd to make its way into the Top 25. A win over North Texas in the upcoming game won’t impress voters. Beating a top five team with national title hopes would.
What’s next: Iowa (2-0) hosts North Texas (1-1) on Saturday (2:30 CT, ESPN2).
