Montgomery is a 4-star recruit ranked No. 33 nationally at his position and No. 47 in the state of Florida by 247Sports. The 6-foot-2, 165-pound Montgomery has 20 offers, including from Arkansas, Iowa State, Louisville, Kentucky, Maryland, Tennessee, USC and Virginia Tech.
The Class of 2018 prospect is the type of player who will give a program a jump start on its recruitment in the defensive backfield for the class. Here is a link to his Hudl highlights.
Iowa already has four defensive backs committed for the 2017 class, leaving the Hawkeyes well positioned to start looking ahead to future classes. Iowa is starting to extend offers earlier to recruits and this is an example of it.
As for 2017, defensive back pledge Chevin Calloway is still committed to Iowa but is visiting other programs. It’s something that typically doesn’t happen with a Hawkeyes commit and his recent comments about his communications with the Iowa staff aren’t sitting well with Iowa fans.
