Iowa football’s Cy-Hawk Series with rival Iowa State has been extended.
The Hawkeyes and Cyclones announced on Tuesday that the series will be played through at least the 2023 season. The extension sets games in Iowa City in 2022 and in Ames in 2023.
Iowa athletic director Gary Barta and Iowa State AD Jamie Pollard made the joint announcement.
Iowa and Iowa State have played annually since the series resumed in 1977. The rivals first met in 1894.
The Hawkeyes lead the all-time series 42-22. This past season, Iowa beat the Cyclones 42-3. This upcoming season, the teams will play in Ames on Sept. 9.
