Iowa coach Kirk Ferentz and his neighbors have settled their dispute over a private road, the attorneys for both sides told the Associated Press on Tuesday. The agreement cancels the trial that was set to begin Tuesday morning.
The main areas of dispute between Ferentz, his wife and three families revolved around paving roads, landscaping and joining a homeowners association. All of the families live on Saddle Club Road, outside of Iowa City.
The lawsuit came about because the Ferentzes refused to join a homeowners association that the families apparently agreed to form when arguments began about whether to pave a gravel road. Kirk Ferentz also ignored a request to pay $9,400 in road repairs, according to the lawsuit.
The neighbors had been determined to settle the claims in court but instead decided to settle before the trial began.
